PACKAGING: Bubble wrap
PRODUCT: Aluminium cover, perforated and with pre-drilled holes for screws in each corner. Small snap seal bag containing four screws and raw plugs.
FUNCTIONALITY: I have a pest (probably squirrel) getting into my loft. We have discovered a hole just below the soffit, by the valley gutter. This metal sheet was secured over the hole using sealant and screws. I am confident the rodents will now go elsewhere to play.
The metal sheet is ridged and came with protective blue film. I ordered the largest size but I could have done with a size smaller. Better go big than too small I guess.
This is a very good buy and useful as a decorative cover for unsightly holes, or as a pest barrier. At the time of this review the larger size was £16.99, which I think is reasonable.

Good cover for an air brick. I had a beautiful old victorian cover on mine originally, but it’s corroded and mice have chewed through it and taken up living under the house. I trapped and released all the mice first and then have use this to cover the old broken air brick and can’t see them ever breaking back through this, at least, not for many many years and I probably won’t be around to see that. It comes with all the needed screws and rawplugs, so you just need to make four drill holes and screw it on and our done. Very easy and can be fitted by anyone with a drill and a screwdriver in about 5 minutes. The holes are quite close together and small, but it has a sufficient amount of ventilation so no worries. The metal is quite thin but it’s solid, I have no concerns about the quality of material and it will definitely hold out pests.

I’ve used this to cover the air brick on my outside wall as a family of mice moved in to my kitchen so I wanted to be sure to block all possible routes.
I have attached these with strong 3m tape and it seems to be doing the job.
It being stainless steel I’m not sure if it will rust over the winter months being exposed to the elements, but it looks smart and is doing its job so all good so far!

This is a simple product and it comes in basic packaging, a plastic bag. There is a protective film to protect it as well, which needs to be removed before/during installation.
The screws provided aren’t really appropriate for the style of plate, and are a strange choice. They work fine, but it’s not a great look.
The plate is 250mm squared with rounded edges, and is thick enough to stop any nibblers from getting in. It won’t stop insects, so keep that in mind, and use an additional insect mesh if needed.
As it is aluminium alloy it should last many years before any serious corrosion takes place.
Overall I will say that for the price of £17 it’s a decent product that could be improved with better screws.

A large and sturdy breathable cover.
I used it to cover up a previous resident’s tumble-dryer venting hole (as my washer-dryer doesn’t need a vent). It was leaving a large hole with only a cheap plastic cover over it, and the wind and insects were getting in. That’s not so much a problem, you can bung up the hole, but I didn’t want any other visitors (and there are sightings of them) potentially getting into the wall-space.
With this on, no fear. It’s large and solid and covers the entire hole and has been wall-plugged into the brickwork so it’s not going anywhere. Doesn’t look out-of-place (though I assume it will start to rust over time, but it hasn’t done so yet) and a damn-sight better than an ugly hole. Would still allow an underlying vent to breathe, though.

Due to relative thickness of the plate there is no distortion on this vent. Being Aluminium means that it won’t rust over the years: helpful because it has been sited in a cold garage. The face has been polished which makes that vent fairly attractive to look at. Plastic film protects said face until the vent is in use.
The screws provided are not the correct screws for this vent. The screws provided are of the countersunk type which, in this case, means the sharp edge of the head of the screw protudes slightly from the plate face, potentially causing problems. I have used some screws provided by Amazon for another review – they are pan heads. Much better.

This is a review of Air Brick Cover for Pest Proofing 170x250mm. The product is well made and strong. The metal looks strong and resistant to pests.
There are four screw holes for fitting.

This was the perfect size for an air ventilation outlet pipe in my house. The old grill had rusted, so I decided to fit this aluminium alloy cover. It was protected on one side with plastic film to prevent scratching. It was easy to fit – there is a hole in each corner. If appearance is what matters to you then you might want to use round headed screws instead of the countersunk screws provided. I used countersunk screws as I needed a low profile (partly behind a fence post).

Ordered to fit over an air vent/brick. Looking to keep some air flow but shrink the hole size to reduce insects.
Sturdy item, no sharp edges, looks good
Easy to fit, either drill and screw or even use adhesive/silicone if it’s an awkward placement.

If you want to keep mice out of an air brick, this cover is probably ideal. It isn’t any kind of mesh or grid, it’s a solid metal plate with many tiny holes, which no mouse on earth could possibly squeeze or gnaw through. It doesn’t look particularly nice, but it’s OK, and it does the job, which is the important thing.
The only thing to be aware of is that the product contains an advisory note that you should not use it to cover a vent connected to a gas appliance, as it will inevitably reduce the airflow, it’s really for covering a normal house airbrick.
You fit it with a screw in each corner, so naturally that involves drilling into the masonry, unless you want to use adhesive, which you would have to obtain separately.
Does the job so happy to recommend.

I ordered this for an airbrick inside our garage. We have had mice on a yearly basis (not to mention the large spiders!). We just never got around to doing anything about it 🙄. So when I saw this, I didn’t hesitate. My husband put it up, he being a lot taller than me and better with a drill. I take photos for my reviews 95% of the time, but this was one of the 5 percent when it wasn’t practical. Because it was inside our garage, with no lighting, the photos I took just weren’t good enough to upload. We didn’t want it on the outside of the garage as we have clematis and wisteria growing up trellis there and a sparkly aluminium air brick cover would have spoilt it 😱. Anyway, it’s a quality made product and I would definitely recommend it.
